Spring 1 Field of Study

With the recent icy weather, this topic feels very apt! We are really excited to be launching our new Field of Study, ‘Frozen,’ where the children will have opportunity to explore the world around them! Please click on the link below to read more about what we will be learning!

FROZEN!

Autumn One Field of Study

Last half term we have been busy learning all about ourselves, making self-portraits and noticing similarities and differences between each other. The children have begun to learn some of the routines of Nursery and have worked hard on taking turns and sharing with their friends.

FOS: I AM SPECIAL

Autumn Two Field of Study

This term our Field of Study is 'Over the Rainbow'. It will be a very colourful topic which will tie in nicely with some of the upcoming festivals, e.g. Bonfire night, Diwali, Remembrance Day, Christmas. We are looking forward to a very colourful and sparkly half term!

We operate an open door policy and there are always Early Years staff available on the door at drop off and pick up for quick messages/conversations. If you would like a longer or more confidential chat with one of the team, please do ask to make an appointment and we will try our best to help. You can also contact Sarah-Jane O'Donnell, our Early Years Leader using the following email address: eyfs@thomashickman.bucks.sch.uk

In Nursery, we focus on meaningful interactions with the children. We are positive play partners and extend the children’s learning through observation and quality questioning, consistently modelling key vocabulary and always mindful on development language and communication skills. On occasions, we may capture some ‘wow’ moments through photographs, videos or captured speech and these may be shared on the children’s Tapestry Journals, (a platform for online learning journals). We also have a class ‘Busy Bird’ floor book. This is a very special large spiral bound scrap book where the children and staff create a visual representation of their learning journey through the topic. The children can take time to look at their learning together, discussing how they have made progress and remembering all they have learnt.
